"Life can change in a blink of an eye."
A week ago we had no idea that these words would prove true for one of Paychex own employees.
Jorge Gonzalez is a payroll specialist in the ABQ Regional Service Center on Team Tammy's team. Jorge had just returned from an unforgettable trip to California with his son/sidekick, Caden. Jorge suffered a severe Hemorrhagic Stroke while at work on Thursday morning, November 15, 2018. With the immediate response from co-workers Paramedics were able to give prompt medical attention. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the stroke and additional complicating factors, Jorge was admitted to the ICU unit where he is still continuing his fight. We want to help Jorge as much as we can with our prayers and donations.
After the initial episode, George did regain consiousness, but not fully capable of responding. Starting Sunday, George became exceedingly more difficult to wake up, further tests indicated that he was continuing to have a series of strokes. By monday George was placed on life support in an attempt to give his body time to heal while his medical team continued to run tests to identify the cause of his strokes.
We anticipate this to include, acute rehabilitation, physical, occupational and speech therapies and constant follow up care.
JORGE UPDATE - ICU DAY 11
Jorge is continuing to make steps in the right direction. Jorge is breathing more on his own, a trach was put in today, but that was anticipated to protect his airway and vocal cords. He continues to open his eyes and track more frequently. Jorge even gave a thumbs up!
