Rally for John Hill's Life-Saving Transplant

Spende geschützt

John Hill is truly one of a kind. I should know, because I married him.

In April, we learned that John is seriously ill and will need a kidney transplant.

John is a proud US Navy veteran who served in the Gulf War as a Corpsman for the Fleet Marine Force. He also served aboard the USS Missouri. He is the father of two wonderful daughters and a loving stepfather to my son. He’s the kind of person who would drop everything to help you—if you called him in the middle of the night for a ride, he'd be there as soon as possible. He’s honest, loyal, dependable, and stands firm in his beliefs. He’s also a true patriot. John can sing—he serenaded his way into my heart 17 years ago, and I haven’t looked back. When I told him my mother would have to move in with us, he didn't hesitate. He knew it would happen, and he embraced it fully.

John is one of the most compassionate people I’ve ever met. He’s shown me what it means to love someone with your whole heart. He’s my protector, my partner, and the greatest love I’ve ever known. I will do everything I can to help him reach this goal.

We’ve traveled to numerous doctors and hospitals from here to Seattle. John undergoes dialysis three times a week in Anacortes and has already had two surgeries. Medical bills are quickly piling up, and we need to ensure our car is reliable for all the travel, it needs new brakes and has an oil leak.

We’ve been juggling finances and trying to make ends meet, but on Tuesday, December 3rd, John had his transplant evaluation at Virginia Mason. To ensure we are financially prepared for after the transplant, we need $10,000.

So right now, his transplant application is on hold, until we have $10k in hand.

After he receives the transplant (fingers crossed), we will have to stay in a hotel or B&B for 4-6 weeks, within 45 minutes of the hospital.

We’re reaching out because we need help. The financial burden of the transplant is overwhelming. We’re not the type of people to ask for assistance, but we are at a point where we desperately need it. A transplant would greatly improve John’s quality of life, eliminating the need for dialysis and extending his life.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and for any support you can offer.

Clarification on $10K Requirement

The hospital requires we have this amount before they can add him to the transplant list (or continue the application process). The $10K will cover our expenses for things like hotel accommodations, aftercare, and medications during the first few months following the transplant. It does not go toward the cost of the transplant itself. Essentially, the hospital is ensuring we are financially prepared to cover essential post-surgery needs for up to six months.

Once we have the $10K, we can resume the application process for his transplant.

Thank you for your understanding, and I apologize for any confusion.

Please share.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas
