Update on Jill’s Health Journey

Less than three weeks ago, Jill was involved in two separate car accidents, just a week apart. As concerns for her health grew, efforts were underway to determine what was happening. However, on Tuesday, 1/22, Jill had to be taken to the ER and later careflighted to see a neurosurgeon due to a mass discovered on her brain. After being assessed, it was determined that a large cyst and tumor were behind the issues Jill had been experiencing with her vision, mobility, and speech.

We learned that the mass likely caused mini seizures, which in turn led to the two recent car accidents. On Thursday, 1/23, Jill underwent a craniectomy to drain the cyst and remove the mass on the left side of her brain. Thankfully, the surgery went as well as hoped, and Jill has already experienced some relief in her vision and mobility. Although she is still facing limitations with her speech and memory, we remain hopeful that with rehab, these challenges will improve over time.

While the surgery was considered a success, we received heartbreaking news: Jill's lung cancer has returned. There are now two additional masses in her brain, and we are awaiting results from an MRI and additional PET scan to determine if the cancer has spread elsewhere in her body.
