What started out as a practice day at the motocross track, quickly turned into an emergency situation. After going down at the bottom of a jump, Jessy was landed on by another bike. She was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance where her prognosis was unknown.
Jessy Munch was in a motocross accident on May 16th, which left her in serious condition and resulted in a traumatic brain injury. She was in ICU with bleeding and swelling on the brain, a broken jaw, a broken nose, and various other injuries. She was in a coma for over a week. As her condition improved she was moved to the Brain Trauma unit where her condition could be closely monitored. After making incredible progress - including responding to commands, talking and eventually walking with assistance - she's been moved to a special unit for intensive therapy.
It's been 4 weeks and Jessy is becoming herself more and more each day. She is a survivor! It will be a long road to full recovery with Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy.
Jessy is a mom and a wife. Jaxson wants his mom home. Chris, her husband, has been absolutely amazing. He has had to miss a lot of work. While Jessy was in Salem, Chris was commuting there every day from Hillsboro (that’s over an hour one way). Some days driving there and home more than once.
Any funds raised will help pay for her out-of-pocket expenses and copay's incurred. At this point, Jessy will be out of work for an undetermined amount of time. While Jessy has an incredible support system of friends and family, the bills are piling up quickly. It would be wonderful if we could help ease that burden so she can focus on getting well!
