Rally for Jesse's Healing and Recovery
Donation protected

Update on 8/8/25, today Jesse underwent a treatment using pineapple enzymes which was extremely painful for him being that he had to sit with this on his skin for 4hrs to let the enzyme eat away dead tissue saving healthy tissue, then have it scraped off. So extremely painful, but it was very successful. After the treatment our amazing doctor let us know that Monday he will undergo a procedure to add his own healthy skin cells to his most damaged areas. We are hopeful that all of this will reduce the need for any skin grafting. Thank you all so much for your love and support in this time.
On August 6th, 2025, our lives were turned upside down.
While preparing dinner for our family around 4:30 PM, my husband Jesse Flaherty made a split-second, heroic decision. A pot of oil on the stove overheated and caught fire. In an effort to protect our children and get the danger away from the house, Jesse picked up the burning pot and carried it outside — suffering severe burns in the process.
Jesse was flown by Mercy Flight to the ICU Burn Unit at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. He sustained deep burns to both arms, his chest, neck, and parts of his face. We are currently over five hours from home, facing a long road of healing and recovery.
The medical team has given us hope through a promising new treatment using pineapple enzymes that remove only the dead tissue while preserving healthy skin. This process will help determine the extent of Jesse’s injuries and whether skin grafts will be needed.
Jesse is the heart of our family — a loving husband, devoted father, and someone who always puts others first. Now, he needs our help.
Any donations will go directly toward:
