On Friday, August 15th, my sister Jen, brother-in-law Mike, and niece had a horrifying house-fire that began in the kitchen. Thankfully the girls were not home, and Mike was nearby to prevent the fire from engulfing the entire house. A thousand thank you’s to Towamencin Fire Dept. for arriving so quickly!!!
Unfortunately, almost all of their clothing and personal possessions were damaged or destroyed from the fire and smoke. The fire marshal declared the house uninhabitable for the next 6+ months. Their immediate focus is locating and securing temporary housing while they work through homeowner’s insurance to replace everything that was lost in the fire.
Jen says the outpouring of love and support from her & Mike’s friends has been enormous. Jen & Mike are doing their best to navigate the next steps, which I’m sure is overwhelming with the school year approaching, and have taken my advice to make it simple for those offering help to do so stress-free via GoFundMe.
Everyone is alive and well including Pixie, thank the Lord (RIP Paxton the chameleon). It will take a while to put their lives back together, and if you know Jen & Mike you know they’ll bounce back in short order. This page is a way for family, friends, and the North Penn community to support Jen & Mike as they begin the road to rebuilding their home of many years.
