Rally for Jan's Healing Journey

Hello,

I am here on behalf of our sweet Jan Canete. The first week of May, she was diagnosed with two rare and aggressive infections. Here is her story:

"I almost lost my life last week.

What started as swelling in my hand turned into fever, chills, and body aches that landed me in the ER. Within hours, I was told I had a severe bacterial infection and needed emergency hand surgery. Then came the words no one ever expects to hear: "You may need your arm amputated."

They also told me that had I waited even 4 to 6 hours longer, I might not be here at all.

The infection was diagnosed as necrotizing fasciitis and compartment syndrome—two rare and aggressive conditions. The surgical team and infectious disease specialists told me they had never seen anything like it. We’re still not sure how I contracted it—possibly through a cut or small lesion on my hand.

Over the course of 72 hours, I underwent three intense surgeries as the team worked to remove the infection and stop it from spreading. It was traumatic. It was painful. It was terrifying.

And yet—I’m here. I’m healing. And I am beyond grateful.

To those of you who came and sat with me, held space, called, sent messages, checked in, and showered me with prayers and love—thank you from the bottom of my heart. You helped carry me through one of the scariest times of my life.

This experience has cracked me open. Life is precious. Health is sacred. And love—real love—is medicine.

More to come as I process and heal. But for now, just… thank you. I’m so grateful to be alive.♥️"

Jan is still currently in the hospital. She is unable to work and God only knows when she will be well enough to return to work. She needs her people to rally around her and help her navigate this horrible situation. She needs our support. Let’s support Jan during this tremendously challenging time.
