As many of you know, my sister Janice cares for her partner John who has had MS for the past 30+ years. As John’s illness progressed, Janice became his full time caregiver. In December, Janice had surgery to remove a very large tumor and needed assistance to care for John during her recovery. In January she learned that she has cancer and started chemotherapy in February.

Although both Janice and John have insurance many items are not covered, copayments are high, and the additional costs to support John’s health needs when Janice can’t have been difficult. Both of them are on fixed incomes.
