Hi, my name is Lisa and I'm here for my sister.
Jackie has always been the rock of our family. A daughter, sister, aunt, friend, wife and mother, she’s the person who shows up for everyone - through every high, every heartbreak, every chaotic family event, and every quiet moment when all you need is someone beside you. She’s the one with the thoughtful advice, the calm presence, or the wild idea to recreate a TikTok video just to make you laugh.
Anyone who knows Jackie knows her fierce love for her family, her friends, and netball (not necessarily in that order). She has an energy people gravitate toward, a smile that lights up any room, and a wicked sense of humour that has gotten her into trouble more than once.
None of us were prepared for what happened in August 2024…. Bowel cancer.
At just 38 years old - three months pregnant, with a one year old and two older children - this diagnosis was unimaginable. But heartbreak didn’t stop there. Only two days later, while still trying to process the news, Jackie received the devastating call that her eldest son had passed away.
What she has endured is more than anyone should ever face.
And yet, Jackie’s strength has been nothing short of extraordinary.
She carried her baby to term while beginning treatment. She navigated unimaginable grief while caring for her young children. And then came another blow: stage 4 metastatic cancer.
Stage 4 means ongoing treatment, constant hospital visits, and being unable to work. But even now, Jackie continues to show up for her family. With two little ones under four, she still sings with them, plays with them, and pours every bit of love she has into their days.
Unfortunately, the current treatment hasn’t responded as hoped. Doctors are now exploring clinical trials and alternative treatment options that may offer better outcomes.
And through all of this - Jackie still smiles. She still finds moments of joy. She still chooses hope.
We are asking for your support to help ease the financial pressure on Jackie and her husband, Teren, so they can focus on what matters most: time together, creating memories with their children, and pursuing treatment options that may give Jackie more time and stability.
Your contribution will help with:
• Travel and medical expenses for ongoing treatment
• Access to alternative therapies and clinical trials
• Giving this family precious time together without the weight of financial stress
Every donation, big or small, makes a meaningful difference.
Thank you for helping us support Jackie with the same love and strength she has always given to others.
