Rally for Jack: Supporting the Rizzo Family Foundation

As many of you already know, our friend Jack Bergtholdt was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma this past March. Since then, he’s faced dozens of doctor’s appointments, undergone nine rounds of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and endured more than his fair share of tough days.

“Throughout this experience, I’ve come to recognize a few important truths. First and foremost, I am incredibly blessed to have the unwavering support of my friends, family, and community. My journey isn’t over yet, but I wouldn’t have made it this far without the endless encouragement and love I’ve received.

While it’s difficult to consider myself lucky in the face of a cancer diagnosis, I can’t ignore the fact that I’ve benefited from advancements in research and treatment, especially for a cancer that has seen real progress in recent years. Even with a stage 4 diagnosis, I’ve been able to hold onto hope, thanks to incredible doctors and resources. Sadly, not all patients are given that same chance.

This is why I’m driven to help spread hope to those who need it most. This GoFundMe isn’t for me - it’s for the people still waiting for their breakthrough, still fighting for access to care, and still needing that small spark of hope to make it to the next round of treatment. If you know Jack, you know his favorite way to take his mind off things is by watching the Cubs, although, he’ll make time for the occasional episode of Love Island or a new Lego set. Recently, Cubs legend Anthony Rizzo saw a Tik Tok Jack posted (shameless plug: @jackbergtholdt) and sent him a personal video message wishing him strength and support. That moment meant the world to Jack and inspired all of us to do something in return.

On August 23rd, our friend group will be running the Tough Mudder in Rockford, IL in honor of Jack, and to raise money for the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation, a cause that aligns perfectly with Jack’s journey and values. Just two days later, on August 25th, Jack will undergo his final round of chemotherapy. We couldn’t think of a better time to rally behind him and show our love.
