Rally for Ivy
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Katie and I am starting this fundraiser for Ivy and her family.
Yesterday evening Ivy had an emergency surgery regarding issues within her small intestine- making this her second time in surgery at only 18.
When she was just 15 years old she had undergone a life changing procedure, where her entire colon was removed. For the past three years she has fought to take control of her life. She started boxing, lifting at Rockwell-at 16 years old, and worked teaching piano lessons to save for college. Ivy was accepted to the University of Wisconsin in Madison and due at orientation next week.
Ivy's father, Alberto, just announced to them on Monday that he paid the last medical bill for her first surgery. I am asking for help on behalf of this wonderful and fiercely resilient family. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated and if you can't then please share this post, send good thoughts, vibes or prayers for this strong and brave girl.
Ivy is in recovery and is healing, let's rally together for her!
*****Update: Ivy had a secondary procedure on July 23rd after the first surgery, where the surgeons had to stretch her intestine because the scar tissue caused a blockage that wouldn’t allow food and water to pass through her intestine. While performing this second procedure, the doctors found that the initial incision had gotten infected. After realizing that was the case, they cleaned it but had to leave an open wound to assure that it wouldn't get infected again. Ivy is now healing and working on moving past this most recent situation. She is starting college next week and has stayed as active as her doctors will allow- even doing light exercises two weeks after surgery! Let’s continue to support her and make this as easy on her and her parents as possible, as we all know college is not cheap and hospital bills can be extremely expensive. Thank you everyone that has donated or shared this!!*****
