Rally for Helen: She Needs Us Now

Thank you to everyone who has donated! Because of your generosity, Helen is one step closer to finding a place to live. She now knows about this page and has humbly accepted the support (after many, many apologies from me—if you know Helen, you know she’d never ask for help for herself).

Help Helen Zurita Find a Safe Place to Call Home

My name is Pauline , and I met Helen Zurita last year at one of Mamta’s vigils community events. We instantly connected, and I could tell right away—this woman had a heart like no other. It didn’t take long to see her in action. Whether organizing food drives, helping families facing eviction, or connecting people with resources, Helen lives to serve. She’s not just a community advocate—she’s a lifeline for hundreds in Manassas.

Helen is the kind of person who doesn’t ask if someone needs help—she just shows up. For years, she’s worked as a Community Liaison for a local non-profit in Prince William County fighting to preserve affordable housing, feeding 300+ families weekly, handing out backpacks, organizing toy drives, and quite literally saving homes. When the East End Mobile Home Park was at risk, Helen led the charge to keep 58 families from losing everything.

But behind her fierce advocacy is a story most don’t know. Helen is also a survivor of domestic violence. She’s rebuilt her life with courage and grace—always focused on others, never herself.

And now, she’s in urgent need.

After 15 years in the same rental, the property owner has decided to sell. Helen is being forced to leave—with no plan in place, no housing lined up, and very little time. True to who she is, Helen hasn’t told many people. She doesn’t want to burden anyone. So I’m stepping in—without her knowing (yet). I believe in asking forgiveness later when it comes to helping people like Helen.

If there’s anyone who deserves our help, it’s her. She’s held this community together more times than we can count. Now it’s our turn to show up for her.

Please consider donating—no amount is too small. Share this far and wide. Let’s give Helen what she’s given so many: safety, stability, and a reason to keep believing in the kindness of others.

She wouldn’t ask for help. So I will. (Yes, Helen—I’ll ask for forgiveness later.)
