A warm hello to everyone who found their way to this post. I want to start by saying a truly heartfelt thank you for being here for us, regardless of whether you want to donate. We appreciate you for reading our story and for any positive vibes you want to send our way. Please don't feel pressured.
I'm pretty awkward at introductions for stuff like this, but I'll try my best! This GoFundMe is for Heidi (my wife), who loves traveling, our two fluffy cats, rockwall climbing, good food, and late-night chats with friends. I'm her husband, Major, and we are locals to Kansas City as we both grew up here. Against all odds, with everyone telling you that she’s young and healthy and not to worry, she was diagnosed with an aggressively fast-growing cancer in May of 2025 that needed surgery, followed by radiation therapy, right away. We don't know what our future is going to look like and are currently finding ways to cope and gather support.
Heidi told me, “Imagine that suddenly, very unexpectedly, you're not allowed to inhale. Every bit of wind has been knocked out of you, and you're left with this pending dread, knowing that you have a long journey to finally be healthy again." Nothing at this point is certain. We went nearly a week without even knowing what kind of cancer we were currently dealing with, right after we got the diagnosis. It truly has been the hardest time of our lives, full of tears, confusion, stress, and dread.
However, the good news is that Heidi had her surgery in mid-May. It went well. That was step one to overcoming the mountain of struggle ahead of us. After surgery, Heidi has recently been doing radiation therapy and will begin hormone therapy as soon as radiation is completed. Radiation has been very hard on Heidi so far and she is currently taking time to rest. It’s crazy how fast this has progressed— like “a rock rolling down a hill”.
If you feel like you want to support us, we would truly feel honored and grateful. It would help us to prepare and to get us back on our feet while Heidi is recovering and undergoing the needed treatments. All funds will go towards Heidi's medical treatments and surgery cost.
IMPORTANT NOTE: To save other lives, I have to tell you to please do regular self-examinations, finding a hard lump that's fixed in place and might be slightly tender to poke— sometimes it feels "hot like a cinnamon spicy gumball," according to Heidi. This is serious, and you need to get medical attention ASAP. Heidi’s cancer grew in only 2 months, and it really can happen to anyone.
