Rally for Heidi: Overcoming Cancer Together

Donation protected
I am here today, not because I want to be... more than anything, I don't want to post this but...

My thoughtful, kind, beautiful, adventurous, BFFSISTAHCUZIN has CANCER. I don't like these words and I don't like them being in the same sentence but...

She needs help and anyone that knows Heidi, knows that if you need help, you can count on her. I am going to take the opportunity for help from Heidi and share her story she shared with us:

Lynch syndrome, an autosomal dominant genetic condition that is associated with a high risk of various cancers. I had cancer in 2016. I have cancer now. I've been not well for a bit. After CT scans and scopes, they found the source. My right side ureter and kidney will be removed soon. I’m sharing this because although Lynch Syndrome is rare (not as rare), it is vastly underdiagnosed. It only takes a simple blood test to find if you’re predisposed to genetic cancers. Even though I live a healthy life, there is nothing I can do to avoid these cancers. The only lifesaver is early detection, so annual screenings are a must. Peace and love to you!

Heidi moved to Los Angeles a couple of years ago. Kate and her new hubby Quinton live there with her grand-puppy Pocket, very close and great friends, Quinton's mom Lynne and Uncle Steve, as well as may friends well for companionship.

She has been self-employed as a property manager and working at Palisades Theatre. When the fires broke out, getting through that and being the hospice provider for her beloved Aunt Deborah, Heidi has had less work. She was so hoping for this spring to be her opportunity to get back on that horse and look upwards to the future. The upcoming surgery is going to be difficult on her spirit and physical being but being out of work for a minimum of 12 weeks is going to be financially devastating. Self employed is the equivalent of unemployed in the eyes of the government so the PFLA will not cover her rent and utilities for 3+ months of getting back to the vibrant Energizer Bunny we all love.

And then cancer struck. It happens so quietly and then one day, it rears its ugly head and your reality of the future changes.

If you have a chance, please send her a note and please donate to help her ease her mind of paying bills while she is trying to focus on a full and total recovery from her upcoming surgeries and treatment to get her back on the road for her recovery. At the very least, PLEASE, PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW. DON'T DECIDE WHAT SOMEONE ELSE MIGHT WANT TO DO! LET THEM KNOW AND PLEASE EVEN $5 IS NOT TOO SMALL
