Over the last 18 years as the executive chef within The Narrows Restaurant, one of my prized employees, Gustavo Rivas, has been my right-hand man since day one! Working his way up from dishwasher to sous chef was a big deal.

As of two weeks ago, Gustavo suffered a severe heart attack at the young age of 35 attributed to an undiagnosed case of type 2 diabetes. Gustavo is not just part of The Narrows Restaurant; he is part of our family. Not just from a business point, but outside of that, he is family.

I'm starting this in the attempts to help raise funds to pay outstanding medical bills and those that he will accumulate leading up to him having open-heart surgery in two weeks on March 20th. He will have to have an open-heart surgery and a single bypass. With luck and everything going as planned post-surgery, he would be back to work in the next six weeks. Any donation, large or small, will be greatly appreciated as he is trying to obtain health insurance currently to help assist in paying the bills that are starting to stack up. Bless anyone that is willing to help. I just want to see him back on his feet and healthy again.
