Rally for Gail and Russ: Urgent Financial Help

Hi, I’m Pat, Gail’s sister. I have spent considerable time watching my sister and her husband, through a progressively downward spiral of events, become incapacitated with bills and expenses.

Russ became disabled and totally unable to work following a series of life-altering health events, most requiring lengthy hospitalizations and procedures and ultimately resulting in expensive home equipment that is closely monitored.

7 weeks ago, Gail could no longer perform her job and underwent total shoulder replacement surgery, resulting in time off from work. At this posting, short-term disability insurance has not paid out, and they have given no date to do so. Gail and Russ have exhausted all their backups, do not qualify for food stamps or other assistance, and have struggled to keep food in the house. Among the many urgent expenditures that include delinquent mortgage payments and auto insurance, stands the biggest bill—a utility bill hitting $1700 a month, due to a massive water leak that needs to be repaired. Paying the utility bill takes all of Russ’ disability check, so repairs haven’t happened.
