Evan Smith is a 2022 Leslie High School graduate. Evan has recently been experiencing a severe health crisis that has incapacitated him. The planning for his recovery is underway; however, the journey will be a long and arduous road that includes acute attentiveness and care. Evan was admitted to ICU until recently.
Evan is 21 years old. To be facing congestive heart failure, atypical type 2 diabetes, on top of a couple other health issues which at any age is devastating, but at such a young age, it’s compounded particularly as it regards financial and emotional impacts. While Evan focuses on his health with the assistance of his family, he is unable to work for the foreseeable future. His physicians have minimally advised he is not capable of working for the next 12 months. The financial impacts are profound and he is in need of not only constant familial attention but will need communal support.
Evan’s beloved father, Shamus Smith, and adored stepmother, Katie Smith, are leadership members of @https://www.leagueofenchantment.org/michigan.
Their nonprofit organization provides heartwarming hospital visits and electrifying appearances at comic conventions. The things they do include experiences that are events described as “tapestries of compassion and hope.”
Shamus and Katie give back with their entire existence, especially to children and families in their most dire of times. They wear capes for others and give of themselves selflessly. Now, it is time they need others to don capes and assist their child and family in his recovery.
It’s the worst nightmare of any parent to be fighting for the life, well-being, and health of a child. While in age Evan may barely be an adult, he IS still a child that we all must rally to support.
Please consider giving as Shamus, Katie, and their family have done countless times for others. Any donation is celebrated, appreciated, and will assist in Evan’s journey to recovery. Thank you.
