As so many of you know, our cousin, Eric, was hospitalized for two weeks with abdominal pain. On February 1st he started experiencing excruciating pain and was admitted to the ER. After eliminating appendicitis, the doctors opted for exploratory surgery and discovered he had congenital diverticulitis, a rare condition causing pouches to develop in his colon. They successfully removed a portion of his colon along with his appendix. Five days after his surgery, his recovery took a turn and he was feeling more abdominal pain, worse than before. Unfortunately, he developed E. Coli from his first surgery, which ate away his abdominal wall. A second emergency surgery was underway to remove the bacterial infection. After seven more days in the hospital, he is now home and required to wear a wound vac to clear any bad bacteria from the wound. He will receive home care three times a week and is expected to be out of work for the next fifteen weeks.
We are truly grateful for God’s mercy and the steadiness of His presence with Eric, but we know he still has a long road to recovery. Even with insurance, 2 weeks in the hospital, over a month of home care, and nearly four months of lost wages is a huge financial burden. Please consider sharing, donating, or sending prayers so Eric can get back to what he does best, making people’s day a little brighter.
