Rally for Eric: A Community's Call to Action

First I want to thank you all for taking time to read this page. Hello my name is Tory. I am starting this fund raising campaign for my Uncle. Honestly I am at a loss for words and am finding it hard to write something that expresses the feelings in my heart, but I will give it my best shot.

As humans we have this false sense of immortality as long as our health is fair. The thoughts that something bad won't ever happen to us. The sudden slap in the face when life has other plans for us brings a harsh reminder that life is precious and we aren't in control. With the rising cost of health care and the fact that health insurance is a much harder thing to get they were left unprepared and uninsured, not that anyone would be prepared for the events that occurred.

Earlier this month my uncle, through a set of extremely scary events, was diagnosed with stage four liver cirrhosis due to extreme issues from his diabetes and blood pressure. This has caused a domino effect on other things and cause several vessels in his esophagus to swell and even having one rupture causing him to have a near death experience. Doctors were able to stop the bleeding but told him that he was very lucky to be alive. He will also have to undergo several more of these procedures to make sure this doesn't happen again.

They also let him know that in the future he will have to have a liver transplant once they get this portion of this disease under control. It maybe a few years in the future but it will happen. With years of procedures to undergo and eventually a liver transplant this is going to be a huge financial and emotional struggle for his family.

For those of you that know my Uncle Eric you know he cares so much for this community, his friends, and family. Now it's our turn. Our turn to show him how much we support him and appreciate all those times he was there for us and all those moments we heard his voice on the radio or his podcast and it gave us hope; inspired us to be better; gave us the strength to carry our baggage. Let us help him now pick up this weight and shoulder some of this burden. Please show your support for a local historian, artist, craftsman, friend, uncle, father, grandfather, and husband. Let's help his family by taking the burden of hospital bills away and allow them to focus on what really matters, the health of our loved ones. Let's help him heal better by taking away that stress.
