UPDATE - April 20, 2026
As Emily continues her fight with Stage 4 colon cancer, our focus has shifted toward making every moment count and ensuring her family is wrapped in as much peace and stability as possible.
Emily remains positive, but the physical challenges of her fight have intensified. Right now, the most important thing is that she is surrounded by the people she loves most. To make this possible, Efrain has had to take time from work to be by Emily’s side and to provide a steady, loving presence for their son, Liam.
I know Emily, her family, and friends have been deeply moved by the outpouring of love they’ve received. From meals to grocery deliveries, spending time with Emily and Liam, and donating, it all has made an impact and will continue to as Efrain and Liam make Emily as comfortable as possible. Thank you.

Supporting Emily's Fight
Life can change in an instant, and for Emily, the past few years have brought an unimaginable series of challenges. In 2020, Emily and her husband, Efrain experienced the heartbreak of losing their daughter, Olivia. Then, in the spring of 2024, just before she was diagnosed with cancer, they endured another devastating loss: their baby girl, Nora.
In the wake of this second loss, Emily began experiencing a range of troubling health issues. Time and again, her concerns were dismissed, often attributed to the grief she was experiencing or “normal postpartum symptoms”. Despite the emotional toll, Emily advocated for herself, knowing something more was wrong. Her persistence finally led to a breakthrough: in July 2024, she received the diagnosis no one ever wants to hear: Stage 4 colon cancer.
The news was shattering, yet Emily faced it with incredible courage and an inspiring spirit. She immediately began an intensive chemotherapy regimen, with infusions every two weeks and daily oral chemo medication. The financial burden of these critical treatments quickly accumulated, creating a $10,000 debt. To help themselves financially, Emily and her husband made difficult sacrifices: they moved in with her in-laws, went down to one car, and Emily has made the decision to return to work, all while continuing her treatments, which are expected to last at least until the end of the year.
Through all this, Emily has been an extraordinary beam of positivity. Her resilience, determination, and unwavering hope are an inspiration to everyone around her. She finds strength in her supportive husband, their healthy baby boy, Liam (born in 2022), and a loving network of family and friends. Emily would never ask for help on her own, which is why we, are creating this GoFundMe.
This GoFundMe is created to support Emily as she continues her fight against cancer. The financial burden of extensive medical treatments, coupled with the emotional weight of her past few years, is immense. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help alleviate these pressures and allow Emily to focus on what matters most: her health and healing.
Let's rally around Emily and show her she's not alone in this fight. Your support will provide much-needed relief and a beacon of hope during this challenging time, ensuring she can get the care she needs.
