No 14-year-old should be in the hospital fighting leukemia — but that’s exactly what Drystan is doing. As Heather’s friend and neighbor, and as a parent whose own child just completed cancer treatments, I know firsthand how overwhelming this journey can be. Drystan was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and has begun chemotherapy. With AML, he will have very long hospital stays, often a month at a time. It’s going to be a long road, with treatments, hospital stays, and challenges no teenager should face.

Drystan is a talented drummer who loves music — from electronic video game tracks to jazz. He dreams of playing in the marching band at Pleasant Grove High School. Like most kids his age, he enjoys hanging out with friends and playing video games, which help him hold onto normalcy during this difficult time.

The costs of treatment, frequent hospital trips, and daily meals add up fast. We’re hoping to raise support to help Heather and her family focus on Drystan’s healing without the added stress of expenses. Funds will help cover medical bills, treatment costs, insurance deductibles, gas for hospital trips, food during long hospital stays, and unexpected expenses.

Every donation helps, and even sharing this fundraiser shows Drystan he’s not alone. Let’s come together to support him in this fight. Thank you for your kindness and support. — Karen Danielson
