Rally for Dillon: Overcome Leukemia's Challenge

Hello,

I am Emile, Dillon’s best friend, he is the organizer for this fundraiser but asked me to write his story, I hope you enjoy and filled inspiration in my heart felt story of my best friend!!!

I am setting up this go fund me for a special person in many people’s lives. I have known Dillon for many years, Dillon is not just someone’s friend, son, grandson, uncle, mentor, co-worker, he’s also a working professional, impacting mental health patients with his kindness, compassion, generosity, and patient centered care. Dillon is also a Veteran who served the Untied States as a Military Police Officer. I know many of you know Dillon on many different levels and have seen the impact he has in regards to people who come in contact with him. Dillon has been my best friend for many years, always there when I need him, and will go out of his way for others. His compassion and generosity doesn’t go unnoticed. I’m sure all of you know his obsession with the one and only Taylor Swift, I’m sure many of you have seen his lip sync videos on snap chat; that make people laugh. His passion for her never goes unnoticed. Knowing everything about her, seeing her live 35 times, and even going out of his way to have a birthday inspired by her. This is one thing I can say about Dillon when he is passionate about something it shows. Dillon is also a huge family oriented person, watching his nephew Ayden's basketball games and cheering him on, joking around with his niece and acting a fool together. There is so much more to Dillon then some don’t even have the time to understand. I could go on for hours, I’m sure each of you people who come in contact with him have stories to share as well.

The reason for this go fund me is do to a recent illness that has struck Dillon so quickly and so hard that it has had such an impact on not just him, but family, friends and others. Dillon was recently diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia) AML, is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow, and it is an acute leukemia, which means it progresses quickly and should be treated immediately. The diagnosis has hit Dillon so quick and came out of know where. Dillon first started having issues when he had to have repeated blood transfusions and hospitalizations due to the symptoms of a diagnosis that he didn’t expect to hear, having bruises and weight loss, fatigue, and nausea. Dillon never expected it to be AML as know one in his family has had this form of cancer. This diagnosis and treatment has had an impact on Dillon due to increased treatment, I feel we should all come together and support and try and help out at anyway possible. Currently Dillon is being treated with chemo, they are pairing cytarabine with an anthracycline. This has took a toll on Dillon, causing severe weakness, fatigue, weight loss, insomnia at times, and now recently subjected to a horrible rash that has took over his body. Despite all this Dillon’s outlook on life is still as passionate and positive as if nothing has happened. He continues to push forward, seeking prayer, time with family, and of course time for Taylor Swift. He always says hearing her music keeps him going, and knowing the support he has behind him.

With sickness comes many disappointments, and set backs. This is the reason for this go fund me. Dillon is trying his best to stay afloat and has already had some help from friends and family who he is very thankful and grateful for the kindness he has received.

Dillon is not the kind of person to ask for help and hence the reason I’m doing it for him. Dillon is a fighter but needs a little bit of help. With on going medical bills and medications some things have got in the way. With this post I hope we can help him with the set back he has. I’m looking to help raise funds to help him with his utility bills, rent, and ensure he has food in his fridge and can focus on healing and getting better. Instead of stressing and causing increased issues with his mental health. He still remains positive. In Dillon’s own words he says I’m going to “shake it off” hearing this gives me such joy and laughter as he still is quoting things like that during this time.

If you are able to help in any way, anything would be appreciated. If not sharing this on your wall, with friends, family, or however possible would be so appreciated. I have hope and passion that everything will work out and Dillon will be back to his normal routine again.

Also if you want to Dillon enjoys receiving cards of inspiration, bible quotes and pick me up’s. Reach out to him if you feel like your like to do that.

In closing let’s try and help Dillon the best we can, and show him he is not alone!!!!

And as words from Dillon

“I’ll see you next Era”

xoxo,
Emilie
