Help Destiny Heal – Support for Medical & Living Expenses
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to ask for your support for someone very dear to me—Destiny Hayes, a vibrant 36-year-old mother, wife, and fighter who has been through an unimaginable health battle over the past few years.
Destiny’s journey began in August 2021, when she suddenly fell ill with what doctors initially thought was pneumonia. As her symptoms worsened—shortness of breath and intense chest pressure—further testing revealed a serious diagnosis: non-ischemic cardiomyopathy with severe biventricular dysfunction (an enlarged, weakened heart). She began managing the condition with medications and, in March 2022, had a defibrillator implanted to help stabilize her heart.
Just as things were settling, life threw her another curveball. In March 2024, Destiny was diagnosed with cancer in her tonsils. She bravely underwent 45 rounds of radiation and 6 weeks of chemotherapy, and in true Destiny spirit, she fought hard and beat cancer.
Because of her heart condition, Destiny had hopes of being evaluated for a heart transplant, but due to the recent cancer treatment, she must wait to be in remission before she can even be considered.
Then, on June 5, 2025, while outside hanging laundry, Destiny suddenly felt faint and noticed her heart racing. Her defibrillator activated due to a life-threatening ventricular arrhythmia. Her blood pressure was dangerously low, and her heart had grown even weaker.
She was life-flighted to Geisinger Danville, where she spent three weeks in the hospital, underwent an emergency procedure, and had a LVAD (left ventricular assist device) implanted—a mechanical pump now keeping her heart functioning.
Destiny has a long road to recovery ahead, with at least a minimum of three months healing, plus regular appointments with cardiology, oncology, and hematology specialists in Danville. She cannot drive or be left alone, so her devoted husband Brad has become her full-time caregiver and is currently unable to work.
They are also caring for their two children, who have been incredibly strong throughout all of this. But as you can imagine, the emotional and financial toll is overwhelming.
We are asking for help to ease the burden Destiny and her family are facing- bills, travel expenses for appointments, household costs, and basic living needs.
We know times are hard for everyone, but if you’re able to donate—even a small amount—or share this fundraiser, it would mean the world. Most of all, please keep Destiny and her family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this incredibly difficult journey with courage and love.
Thank you for your kindness and support. ❤️
