My name is Eric, and I’m writing this as the proud son of Desiree. My mom is a fighter. She’s a mother of four and a grandmother to eight beautiful grandchildren who adore her. But right now, she needs your help to continue her fight.

Desiree was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), a progressive neurological disorder that has severely impacted her diaphragm over the years. Despite her challenges, she’s always been a pillar of strength for our family. But this past August, her battle took a devastating turn.

After contracting pneumonia, her condition became critical, and she was rushed to the ICU. To save her life, she had to undergo a tracheotomy. Since then, it’s been an uphill battle. She has faced double pneumonia, COVID, and the immense challenge of trying to wean off the ventilator while adapting to life with a tracheotomy. She’s been through two different rehabilitation facilities, working tirelessly to regain some independence and stability.

Unfortunately, the cost of her care has become overwhelming. Her insurance will no longer cover the medical expenses, and it is estimated to cost around $6,000 per month to keep her in the facility where she’s receiving the care she needs. This amount is far beyond what our family can manage alone.
