This past Tuesday, a respected artist, community member, and dear friend, Demetrius Bing, sent a text on his way back home from the ER. He had been hit by debris truck on his way to work that morning, and had spent the afternoon getting scans, xrays, and stitches.
Thankfully, and miraculously, he was not severely injured. Some of the injuries he sustained included a lacerated eyelid, ares of his face, mouth and jaw, and his leg.
Demetrius shared with me a text asking if I wanted to 'know something funny'. "My right arm is untouched." His painting arm!! Unreal. How miraculous when you look at that photo and see the right side so damaged.
When I spoke to Demetrius and his mother yesterday, both are so grateful that he is unharmed, and that his car was able to take the brunt of the damage.
Demetrius expects to make a full recovery.
However, the accident totaled his car, and has left him out of work while he recovers and until he has a vehicle to get him there.
He will need help to cover anything the at-fault driver's insurance doesn't cover, and to offset missed work hours. We all know how long insurance processing can take, and the limits on disbursements could prevent him from recouping 100% of what he has to pay. He's relying on his momma's help during this recovery period.
I'm asking you today to help contribute to his recovery and future by providing a donation today. Aside from GofundMe fees, 100% of all donations will go directly to Demetrius.
An alternative to using the GoFundMe platform (and highly suggested and desired, of course) would be to buy a painting!
