Rally for Dave Pokras: Restore His Hockey Gear

I’m not sure if all of you know yet, but Dave Pokras had a tragic garage fire last night (yes.. AGAIN), and I really think our hockey brotherhood needs to help. As you all know, this is the 2nd fire that Pokey has had to endure, and speaking from personal experience, his head has to be spinning right now. In case you are wondering, there is no insurance coming to the rescue on this one.. he had a high deductible due to the previous fire claim.

As a rough estimate, I think he has somewhere between $70-$150k of losses (including all of his hockey gear), and as our hockey community, I think we need to step up and get him at least back to playing hockey as soon as possible. I am not sure what a new set of all of the crap we wear costs brand new these days, but I’ve gotta think it is in the neighborhood of $4-5000. If we all chip in a little bit, or as much as you can spare.. $20.. $60..$100.. whatever you can do.. I think we need to get him back on the ice before the Thanksgiving skate this Thursday.

So I am asking everyone, please do what you can to help and we will reveal this to him on Thanksgiving morning at the tournament that he is organizing (on top of the fact that he organizes every Saturday morning skate for all of us.. finding goalies even when he is out of town, setting the teams, and still calling to see if it all turned out). This is a guy who really cares about all of us. I know he is planning to drive down to Hockey Monkey in OC tomorrow and get everything that he needs so that he can continue playing with us, and there is no way we can raise all of the funds overnight, but I think if we can present him with this Go Fund Me on Thanksgiving morning, I know he will be forever grateful.

i know we can step up and do this. Let’s fully fund this before Thanksgiving and make this a slightly better holiday for our brotha Pokras!
