Rally for Cupcake: Aid Samantha's Cancer Fight

If you’ve lived in Dresden for more than a week, you’ve likely already met our local celebrity, Samantha Stillwagner. Most know her better as Sam, Sammy, or most famously, Cupcake. You’ve likely seen her slinging burgers at the Scottie’s Den or cracking jokes behind the cash register at Certified. What you might not know, is Cupcake was recently diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, a form of breast cancer.

Cupcake has dedicated years of her life to giving back to her community any way she can. She has helped organize and run multiple toy drives and charity auctions, has supported the TVHS band whenever possible, donated plasma religiously, and has donated to and walked in multiple Race for the Cures. This only touches the surface of how this woman has impacted those around her. If you’re lucky enough to be close to her (like 90% of those she meets because she befriends everyone), you know what a giving, kind, hilarious, and all-around amazing person she is.

For all Cupcake has done for us, she now needs our help. She must have surgery to remove the tumor and possibly surrounding lymph nodes, and she will have to undergo radiation treatment. She is lucky that it was caught early (ironically, thanks to her regular plasma donations), but it will require her to be off work from both of her jobs for a few weeks and then she’ll have to cover all medical bills, including potential ongoing treatment.

What we are asking from the community, is to show this wonderful woman how much we love and support her by helping offset her costs of both the medial aspect, and also just ensuring she has the money to get whatever she needs during her time off work. Cupcake has worked two jobs tirelessly for many years, and this is not the way her closest friends wanted to see her finally get some time off! So if you have anything to offer, even if it’s just a couple of dollars, it would mean everything to those of us who will do anything to ensure our Cupcake is around for a long, long time.
