Rally for Cody: Stroke Recovery Fund

Donation protected
In the early morning hours of November 25th We received a call from Cody asking for help. He was saying he wasn’t ok but didn’t know what was happening . His speech was very slurred in trying to tell us what happened. Headed home from work he got a very horrible headache, cold sweats, lost his balance, had some numbness feeling in his left side, was very dizzy, was seeing double in his vision, had heard a loud pop in his head, was losing his voice rapidly and had fell on his bed trying to take his boots off. In talking to him Starr told him he needed to go to the ER right away that Mike would be on his way to get him. I told him I was pretty certain he was having a stroke or a brain aneurysm. As Mike left I told him he needed to stay on the phone all the way to his house. When Mike got there Cody was out of it. Very delusional, having severe cold sweats, couldn’t see anything clearly and was very off balance. Mike grabbed what they needed and off to the ER they went. On the way Cody had tried to take a drink of water and was choking. They arrived at the ER and got him checked in right away. Several test and scans were done with a conclusion at that point, 7hrs later, that he was having hypertension and an allergic reaction. After being released Mike brought him home to our house to monitor and help with what Cody needed. As they got here and got out of the truck, Cody tried to walk and couldn’t. Almost as if his lower body didn’t work. Once we got him inside he just laid down on the floor. It took all he had. Mike was finally able to get him up and to bed. He tried to take a drink and would have to just spit it back out because it caused too much pressure in his chest and made him choke. We got him comfortable and sat with him for a while before he tried to rest. He was very restless. Couldn’t sleep for more than about 15-20 min at a time and would cough and spit like he was constantly choking. He started having weird hiccups. Decided about 8:30 to try and eat an applesauce and ice pop. It went well for about 8 min and out it all came with all the water. I pulled Mike aside and told him something isn’t right. He agreed. We talked with Cody and he said let’s get through the night and we will decide in the morning. He was givin a walkie talkie to get us if he needed anything. As morning came, we immediately knew things were not changing for the better. We discussed it over coffee that he needed to go to the Vernal ER to get better help. He asked for a bath first so Mike got him situated in the tub. Cody was able to get out alone but it took all he had. He went back to bed and immediately fell asleep for about 15 minutes. Mike went to check on him and he was awake and asked the plan. Mike said we are headed to Vernal. He was able to stand up from bed and walk almost to the door but was very wobbly. With Mikes help they loaded and headed for Vernal. Upon arrival, super quick check in and they could immediately tell something was very wrong. No questions asked, 4 of them right to work on Cody. Keeping Mike very updated about everything they were doing and seeing. EKG, MRI, CT scan and radiology came back right away that Cody had suffered a stroke in the back of his head. Looking right at Mike the Dr said “if you would have waited, your friend wouldn’t be here”. Finishing up some things they said that Cody needed to be takin to Utah Valley ASAP!! The chopper couldn’t fly because of snow, ambulance would probably take to long and he needed help quick so they got a fixed wing plane and within 45 minutes Cody was headed for Utah Valley. As updates are available we are happy to share them. Cody will be coming back to us when he is released that we can help with any lifestyle changes this has created for him.
Please keep him in your prayers especially this Holiday season and know that he is Thankful for each and every one of you.
