If you live in or around the Neosho area, you probably have met or at least heard of Cody Goins. He is known around town as "the guy with the big personality and even bigger heart." He is the man who loves God, his family, his co-workers, and his community with zeal. He is the coach who encourages the loudest, has a personal handshake with every kid on his team, and gives rides to and from games and practice when parents can’t. He is the “helper,” the “one who makes us laugh,” “the loudest in the room,” “the first one to show up and help,” and “the GOAT.”
Three years ago, Cody had his first seizure. Since then, Cody has struggled with neurological problems, including double vision, debilitating headaches, and pain. In November, Cody was accepted as a patient at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, where they found lesions on his brain that they couldn’t explain.
Last week, Cody went to the Mayo Clinic for the third time to have a brain biopsy performed to find the cause of the growing lesions. During the procedure, Cody suffered a brain bleed, which led to a blood clot and a stroke. Cody is now unable to feel or move the left side of his body. His life will look different in the coming weeks as he works with physical therapy to walk, talk, and move his body the way he could before. “The guy who loves big and helps everyone” could use our help.
This monetary gift will be a huge blessing as this precious family navigates the days to come.
