Help Chris Mazzarella — It's Our Turn

There are friends...and then there are people like Chris Mazzarella.

I've had the privilege of calling Chris my friend and neighbor since our families moved into the neighborhood together back in 2012. Over the last 14 years, our lives have become intertwined in ways that only neighbors can understand.

We've celebrated birthdays, Christmases, Fourth of July parties, countless summer BBQs, New Year's Eve parties (and yes, we're still finding confetti years later), golf outings, and more memories than I could ever count. We survived the year I almost blew up your house on the Fourth of July, spent endless nights cheering on our kids, lived through Little League seasons together, celebrated trips to the Little League World Series, and built friendships that became family.

Our neighborhood crew—the Bulldogs—has shared some of life's greatest moments together. Through all of those years, one thing has never changed...

Chris was always the guy you could count on.

Whether it was coaching a kid who needed encouragement, organizing another neighborhood gathering, helping someone move, lending a hand without ever being asked, or simply being the kind of friend who always showed up, Chris has always put everyone else first.

The entire Parsippany community knows that side of Chris.

As President of Par-Troy East Little League, he poured his heart into giving hundreds of children memories that will last a lifetime. To Chris, baseball was never just about wins and losses. It was about teaching kids teamwork, confidence, sportsmanship, and giving them a place to belong.

Then came COVID.

While most of us were trying to figure out how to navigate an uncertain world, Chris got to work. He organized volunteers, raised tens of thousands of dollars, partnered with local restaurants, delivered thousands of meals to first responders and healthcare workers, helped families in need, supplied PPE, and reminded our entire town what community really looks like. He never asked for recognition. He simply saw people who needed help...and helped.

That's who Chris is.

Today, for the first time in a very long time, Chris and his family need us.

Chris is courageously battling advanced liver disease and is urgently searching for a living liver donor. The road ahead is going to be long, but if there's one thing I've learned over the past 14 years, it's that Chris has never had to face life's challenges alone.

If you've ever coached beside him, watched your child play for him, laughed with him at one of our neighborhood parties, played golf with him, shared a meal, or simply had the privilege of calling him your friend, this is our opportunity to return even a fraction of what he's given all of us.

Let's surround Chris, Diana, Dylan, and Ava with the same love, generosity, and strength that Chris has spent a lifetime giving to everyone else.

Because that's what family does.
