Rally for Cassie: Aid for Her Recovery
Donation protected
For those who may not know Cassie owner of Spices N Spurs LLC, she is typically the one offering help to others and rarely asks for assistance herself. Unfortunately, circumstances have changed, and she now finds herself in need of support. She recently endured a challenging stay at the hospital, where she was diagnosed with multiple lesions and multiple sclerosis (MS) that had gone undetected for years. Tragically, she has lost the use of her right side, which has been devastating; she can no longer feel the knife in her hand. While the doctors are hopeful that some function can be restored, recovery may take weeks or even months.
In the meantime, Cassie needs help to cover essential expenses like rent and utilities. She plans to continue running her food truck and business, but her capacity will be severely limited. Compounding her difficulties, she is currently without medical coverage due to delays within the state, meaning all costs related to her hospital stay, doctor visits, and medications are coming out of her own pocket until her health insurance issues are resolved. Although she recently accepted a job that would provide full benefits, she is only five days short of qualifying for them, leaving her without coverage.
Healthcare costs are notoriously high, and the pressure to manage these expenses while keeping her stress levels down is overwhelming. What Cassie needs is not much; if we can raise enough funds to cover her rent and utilities for the next couple of months, it would relieve some of her stress as she navigates the next steps and addresses her medical needs. This assistance would mean the world to her, and she would be eternally grateful.
When I mentioned organizing this support, Cassie was hesitant, as she is used to being the giver and supporter. It’s difficult for her to reach out for help because she feels undeserving. However, given her immense contributions to the community, her support of the food truck industry, and her charitable work for those in need, it’s clear she deserves assistance now more than ever.
I'm hopeful that the community she loves and supports will rally around her during this challenging time. With our collective support, she can keep the lights on, maintain her home, and continue her business, which is her passion. Although she may have to slow down and adjust to her new reality, we believe that, with community backing, she can continue to move forward as she copes with this diagnosis. The doctors are optimistic that she can return to a semi-normal life, but she will need time. Let’s come together to provide her with the support she truly deserves.
