As some people may have already heard, on 4th of July, Caroline Matzdorff was ran over by a truck as her and Blake were leaving the beach in Long Beach, Wa.
As soon as they got to the hospital in Long Beach they decided that she needed to be life flighted to a larger trauma hospital. They ended up not being able to get her on a helicopter until around 7:30 am Saturday due to the smoke and visibility in the area. She was then flown to Legacy Emanuel in Portland and went straight to surgery due to some internal bleeding. They were able to control the bleeding and there is no longer internal bleeding.
Her pelvis was unfortunately fractured in several areas and she had surgery today to get that repaired.
She has a large amount of road rash, bruised lungs, a broken clavicle, 2 broken ribs, and two small fractures in her back (not next to her spinal cord which is very lucky).
Today the doctor informed her that she will be here doing rehab, and PT for at least a couple weeks. After that is complete and depending if that goes smoothly she “might” be able to go home and recover in her own home with physical therapy several times a week. If not it will be a rehab care facility she would have to stay at for recovery.
Right now Blake and Caroline are looking at a minimum 10-12 weeks of her being in a wheelchair, and until she will be able to be on her feet again.
Thank you to all the friends and family that have reached out and been a huge support!
Right now Blake and Caroline are asking that everyone keeps praying for a smooth recovery so that she can stay as strong as she has been and win this fight!❤️
