The Barnes-Zielkiewicz family is facing some great challenges and they need our help!
On September 21, 2018 Aimee, Jakub, and Roman welcomed the newest addition to their family, Portia. She is bright, beautiful, and healthy.
Simultaneously, Aimee received a diagnosis of invasive breast cancer. This is harrowing news for anyone, but especially for a young family with a newborn.
Aimee has started an aggressive treatment protocol which will be long and arduous over the course of the next year. Her condition will greatly impact her ability to perform child care in the short term and perhaps for longer. Additionally, Jakub just started a new job and is valiantly trying to manage his roles as care taker, father of two, and bread winner, all while processing these recent events.
The family needs child care support services above and beyond what would normally be necessary in order to focus on Aimee’s treatment and recovery and enable Jakub to get back to work. This is a costly prospect, especially in the San Francisco Bay Area. As some of you may know, Aimee recently underwent a hospital stay due to sepsis and neutropenia. It has been incredibly hard for her to slow down following her dignosis, and childcare support will make a significant dent in helping her do so.
