Rally for Caitlin: Aid Her Cancer Journey

Hi everyone,

I'm Bryana Kappadakunnel, and I've started this GoFund Me on behalf of Caitlin Williams.

I met Caitlin at a pole dancing class in 2012, and she has been one of my best friends and partners in crime ever since. We've been through so much life together: international moves, weddings, deaths, birth of our children...and now cancer. Again.

In October 2024, Caitlin got the sad and difficult news during her annual MRI mammogram that she has cancer in her lymph nodes. She will need to have surgery for it to be removed, plus follow up chemo and radiation treatments. Her cancer is estrogen-positive and fast growing, and she's working with doctors to ensure that any microscopic cancer cells don't cause anymore harm to her. She'll be having surgery December 17th, and treatments will begin after that.

Caitlin is a bad ass warrior goddess (as if you didn't already know that!). She survived breast cancer 2 years ago, and she will make it through this recurrence.

But she cannot do it alone.

Now, more than ever, she needs our support. Caitlin is fortunate to have great health insurance that will cover the cost of her radiation and chemotherapy treatments; however, any additional treatments won't be covered.

She mentioned to me that she would like to use cold cap therapy to keep her hair throughout her chemo treatments. Those are $500 a visit. That adds up quick!

There are other holistic treatments to support her immune system and general wellness once radiation and chemo are complete that she would like to incorporate, none of which are covered by insurance.

She can find a therapist in-network, but she's interested in somatic experiencing and cancer-informed care, which, if you've looked for in-network mental health providers, you know it's difficult to find ones with unique certifications who are also taking clients. I want her to find her unicorn therapist, regardless of cost, so she can have the professional emotional support that she will need.

Caitlin has always been the lifter of spirits. Anytime I've been down and called her, she's immediately helped me feel grounded and safe. I'm sure it's been the same for you. It's time for us to be her spirit lifter, so she can feel the strength of our love to push through what will inevitably be one of the hardest years of her life.

Caitlin is an incredible mother of 2 amazing boys and the best wife to the love of her life, Peter. They have Pat, Caitlin's mom, to support them; but otherwise, they are leaning on all of us - their community of friends and family from all around the world - to show up for them in any way we can.

I want the Williams family to use these funds for whatever they deem fit, whether it's for takeout, treatments, to pay the babysitter, to fly Pat in, to get extra household help, to get a hot pink wig in case she loses her hair and gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be a real-life fairy...whatever could possibly make their lives easier so my BFF can focus all of her energy on kicking cancer's ass.
