Hello Everyone! I am Nikea Richardson, and I want to share with you all about my best friend Brittany High. Brittany and I met in college when we were 18 and became best of friends. Life was going great for Brittany until an unexpected illness changed her life forever. Brittany’s health began to rapidly deteriorate in the Fall 2024. Although her health declined, for almost a year, doctors and specialists were unsure of Brittany’s diagnosis.

January 2025 was the beginning of a different way of life for Brittany. She began experiencing muscle weakness that traveled up to her diaphragm making it difficult for her to breathe.

After several surgical procedures and hospital and rehabilitation center stays, Brittany is currently facing medical challenges due to her diagnosis of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). While battling ALS, Brittany is no longer able to work and depends on others to care for her twenty-four hours a day. Brittany’s mother, Lisa, works around the clock caring for Brittany during this difficult time.
