Help Support Brandon’s Recovery

My name is Shannon, and I’m Brandon’s sister. I’m reaching out on behalf of our family during one of the most challenging times we’ve ever faced.

Late on the night of July 7th, our lives changed in an instant. Brandon woke our mom in distress, saying he thought he was having a heart attack. Just seconds later, our dad was performing CPR, doing everything he could to save his life, while our mom dialed 911.

Thankfully, paramedics were able to find a pulse and rushed Brandon to a hospital in Pineville. His organs were starting to fail so it was decided to put him on ECMO, a machine outside the body that keeps blood circulating to protect his organs, and transferred to a hospital in uptown Charlotte for more advanced care.

Since then, we’ve seen small signs of hope. Brandon has opened his eyes and looked in the direction of our voices. He’s moved his arms and legs—a bit more than doctors wanted—and tried to sit up. July 12th, he started to follow commands on the right side of his body. Though he’s heavily sedated and still on a ventilator, we believe he’s in there fighting and God is in there healing.

But the truth is—we’re not out of the woods. Brandon has a LONG road ahead. His medical bills are already astronomical, and sadly, he didn’t have insurance or short-term disability. We’re trying to keep up with everyday bills, support his daughters, and ease some of the heavy burden on our parents, who are living every family’s nightmare.
