Rally for Ashleigh-Beating Stage IV Ovarian Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nicole Haywood and I am raising money for my younger sister, Ashleigh Mohr and her little family as she undergoes chemotherapy and major surgery for her Stage IV Ovarian Cancer.
After experiencing an increasing number of swollen lymph nodes all over her body since July, Ashleigh and her husband found a new doctor to take a look at her concerning symptoms. On Wednesday, January 10th, Ashleigh’s CT Scan showed the presence of metastatic Ovarian Cancer both above and below her diaphragm. By midday she was assigned a gynecologic oncologist and was scheduled for a full abdominal hysterectomy and removal of as much of the tumor as possible.
However, due to the large size and location of the large tumor, she now has to undergo chemotherapy prior to this surgery to avoid permanent loss of her colon and damage to other nearby organs. Every delay to this surgery puts her at greater risk of the cancer spreading even farther.
Ashleigh is currently in graduate school at Converse College to pursue her MAT in secondary English, and her husband John is a deputy Sheriff at the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office. They have a young son, Theo, who just turned 4 years old.
They are faced with dilemmas as John usually works security side jobs to help pay for their lives while Ashleigh finishes school and Theo attends daycare. Current challenges are childcare while Ashleigh is unwell but that don’t introduce more illnesses to the household, and cost of living while John forgoes side jobs to help with Ashleigh’s care. They have pending medical bills and an uncertain future over the next 12 weeks as she receives her chemo before having her total hysterectomy and debulking surgery.
Please help her family and friends support the Mohr family to ensure they get to spend quality time together making memories instead of worrying about the financial difficulties that come with such a heavy diagnosis.
