Hi, my name is Aquila. I’ve been on a medical journey since March 12, 2025. This journey hasn’t been anything easy. I’ve had 2 surgeries and over 5 procedures. I had fluid around my lungs and had 2 draining tubes, being in ICU for 7 days. Trying to get back to good health and trying to keep working to keep my insurance, I came across another hurdle. They found fluid in my stomach, which led me to having a G-tube to find out I had a blockage where my food digests. On June 6, I had surgery on my stomach because of the blockage, missing weeks of work again. The operation went well, but there was something else they found, and that was my heart beating faster than normal all the time. After being told I would only spend 2 days in the hospital, 2 days turned into a week. After being discharged from the hospital and being home for a few weeks, I began to be very winded. It would be so hard to stand and even walk the shortest distance. Heading to the hospital to get a lumbar test done due to the headaches I was having because I had pressure in the back of my eye, my mother parked close so I wouldn’t have to walk far. With 4 steps in, I was winded and couldn’t breathe. 3 nurses and a random lady rushed with a wheelchair, rushing me to the ED. Having cold sweats and not being able to breathe, I saw the doctor, and my organs were shutting down. I was dehydrated and had sepsis. At this point, I was scared. In the hospital for weeks getting treated, I had to have a procedure done to check how my stomach was. Not eating the whole time, I went from 400 to 218 pounds. It was a heavy 5 months. Here I am, 6 months later, still not feeling well, not eating, and can’t breathe. I was still trying to work until they let me go one week ago. Going to the doctor, they found 2 masses on my liver. Now, I’m trying to figure out doctor visits because my health insurance is going to end at the end of the month. I’m asking for help as I go through this health journey and continue to fight through this.
