Hello All,
Ricky and Amy were in a horrible car accident on February 8th due to someone else’s negligence on I 95 they were traveling in the left lane and it was a Beautiful Day! They had a front and rear camera which caught the accident on video.
A van hit them and the van was speeding in the middle lane doing a minimum of 85 miles an hour and was distracted going from the right line to the left line in his lane. And then the vans two right tires went into the right lane. He went back in the middle lane and overcorrected it sending him almost t bone into their car. I-95 just started turning to the right when the hit happened. Ricky and Amy’s car was totaled. Amy was driving and they got hit on Ricky’s side. They are very blessed that God grabbed the wheel holding the wheel to the accident instead of into the wall, The video shows the guy through his windshield looking down before the hit. Ricky and Amy ended up being transported by ambulance to Jupiter Medical Hospital.
where Amy complained of migraines and dizziness and did not get any scans except for the injury from her seatbelt.
They both ended up with damaged necks and backs.
and through the next few weeks from that day Amy was asking an MRI of her brain for those few weeks no one listened everyone said that it’s her neck causing issues to her head.
Someone finally listened to her and she had an MRI.
Amy has a Traumatic Brain Injury she ended up having a coup countrecoup (it’s when the brain hits one side of the skull and then the brain hits the other side of the skull)
It has now been over 6 weeks.
2 visits to urgent care, 2 visits to 2 different ER’s
and when you walk into Drs with her Health insurance they say why did you have an MRI? She will say accident? They would ask car? She would say yes and one said let me escort you to the exit door.
She is getting the same reaction over the phone when trying to schedule with a Neurologist Specialist and still to this day can not get care. Her symptoms are worsening and there is not one Dr that explained her report to her and told her the next steps to getting better or what brain therapy will be needed.
The first ER Dr read her report and turned to her and said “you should be brain dead” He said she had a very, very, very extreme concussion.
The next ER Dr said the first ER Dr was correct and that because Amy is not completely brain dead that she should at least be dragging her leg behind her, slurring her words really bad and not be alert. That Dr actually had tears coming from his eyes. Amy explained to him this is All God!
So we thank you very much for your prayers for Ricky and Amy’s speedy recovery.
She has been trying to be her own Advocate and doing all she can to get the care she needs as time is ticking by. She was so close to getting Medical care through the Neurology Department at University of Florida and at the last minute they said they can not see new patients til August. She needs medical care and it’s sad how the system works.
Thank you for your love and prayers
