Rally for Alison: Prevent Homelessness and Aid Recovery

Donation protected
It’s always HARD to ask for help, but when you see a family member nearing homelessness, it’s heartbreaking after a freak accident that has caused chronic pain and suffering. I am writing this message fighting back the tears as I see the pain in my sister’s eyes as she cannot support and take care of herself and her daughter.

On a normal night of Friday, Sept 27, 2024, taking her dogs out for a walk, Alison’s life changed in an instant. Living in a second-floor apartment, walking out of her door as she does multiple times a day with her black lab mix “Layla” and pug “Pickle,” Alison started going down the stairs for their evening walk around the apartment complex to the dog park area. Layla got excited to see a friend downstairs and bolted. Alison could not release the leash as it was wrapped around her wrist, and she was launched down the first flight, crashing her head into the landing pad and wall halfway down the staircase. Neighbors called 911, and as she arrived at the emergency room at Banner, they thought she had been in a car accident with how badly her injuries were. She had a fractured skull and spinal injuries. As a single woman on a sole income, she feared the worst to provide for her and her daughter as she could not afford time off work to heal.

She dug deep, and through the pain, she has tried to go back part-time as the fabulous hair stylist/colorist she is. She has faced an onslaught of adversity the last 8 months. A few weeks after her accident, she had to leave the salon she was renting a chair at overnight and find a new place to rent. In November, her pug Pickle suddenly passed away in her arms from a collapsed airway. Multiple trips to urgent care and ER for reoccurrence of illnesses as her immune system is down and out, and with the struggle of daily pain of being behind the salon chair, she is physically and emotionally unable to keep up with the mounting bills just for basic needs.

Today we ask for prayer, support, and for our community to rally around Alison as she is facing homelessness. She has looked into every program that is supposed to help and prevent homelessness, but she sadly doesn’t qualify for anything until she is literally living out of her car. The last 8 months of struggle have put her in such a desperate place of feeling defeat, no end in sight of the pain going away, finding a new career that can support her better that won’t hurt her body more, and to just sleep at night knowing she can provide for her and her daughter who has been primarily now living with her dad for support. We can all imagine how any mother who cannot care for their child feels and be separated.

All funds received will help Alison pay her rent which has gone unpaid for the last two months, food, medical bills, and help to pay off her maxed out credit cards she has had to rely on. Every dollar counts. If you are unable to donate at this time, please say some prayers for her, for our community to rally, and she can feel supported. Please share this page with everyone you know.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts as we help Alison and her daughter thrive when they have truly hit rock bottom, a place no one ever wants to experience and have to ask for help.
