my name is Alexcia, and I’m reaching out because I am facing a difficult season in my life.

On August 1, 2025, I underwent a medically necessary life-changing surgery. While I was prepared for the recovery, I was not prepared for the insurance challenges that followed. Even though I have short-term disability insurance in preparation for this surgery, my policy was confirmed to start the same day as my surgery, and the insurance company is now disputing my coverage because I was not “actively at work” on the date my new insurance policy was supposed to start.

I did everything right:

• I was on payroll and an active employee.

• I used PTO to keep my benefits active.

• Premiums were deducted from my paycheck.

• I even contacted the insurance company ahead of time to explain my situation.

Despite all this, I am now stuck in an appeals process, and meanwhile, my bills are due. Between my recovery, medical costs, and daily living expenses, the financial strain has become overwhelming.

I am asking for help during this time so I can stay afloat while I heal and continue to fight for the coverage I rightfully deserve. Any contribution will go directly toward my medical bills, living expenses, and keeping my household stable while I recover.
