Rally Around RIO!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lissa Stallings-Boone. Many know my brother, Linc Stallings and his life-saving dog, Rio. Rio and Linc are inseparable even on white-water rafting trips. Rio rescued a 12-year-old during a rafting trip on the Ocoee River. The white-water raft the child was riding overturned. Before Linc could park his boat to help the rescue, Rio jumped into the river and swam to the child. The child was able to grab the handle on Rio's life jacket. Child and Rio were safe on the shore with joyful applause!
Rio is an extraordinary 4-year-old Golden retriever. He is one in a litter of 10 Goldens. Rio was diagnosed with multi-centric lymphoma (cancer) in April 2021. He received the full 15-week CHOPS treatment at Virginia Tech Animal Cancer and Research Center. Remission was achieved in August 2021. Hooray!
Sadly, the multi-centric lymphoma has returned (out of remission) as of April 2022. Rio will require more CHOPS therapy (oral and intravenous) for the full 15-weeks! Linc and Rio will, again, travel to Roanoke weekly for these treatments. The goal amount for Rally Around Rio is 1/5 of the total cost for treatment. I ask for any donation you can offer to help defray this costly life-saving treatment. Rio is worth every penny you can give.
Kindness & Compassion & Joy & Equanimity are yours to give and receive abundantly.
Thank you!
