Rally Around Hannah and Esh After His Accident

Hi, my name is Kei’Ana, and I am Hannah’s friend and coworker. Hannah is a single mom of three who works full-time and is one of the most kind, hardworking, and loving people I know. I am creating this fundraiser to help support Hannah, her son Esh, and their family as they navigate his recovery and the many expenses that come with it.

What Happened

On Monday, July 21, Hannah’s son, Esh, was in a serious bike accident and had to be airlifted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. When he arrived, he had an open skull fracture. A head CT revealed multiple brain bleeds as well as skull and facial fractures. He underwent brain surgery that same day to clean and close the wound and to place a cranial pressure sensor.

After surgery, Esh was intubated and heavily sedated in the PICU. While doctors initially expected him to remain intubated for three days, he was able to breathe on his own and was successfully extubated the next day. An MRI later showed his brain bleeds were stable but also revealed soft tissue damage in his neck, requiring him to wear a C-collar for 6–8 weeks.

Esh has been experiencing double and blurry vision, and an optometrist has confirmed damage to his left facial nerve, which may heal with time or require future surgery. Despite these challenges, he has been making steady progress. He was moved out of the PICU to the inpatient floor, where he began physical, occupational, and speech therapies.

On Sunday, an NG feeding tube had to be placed since he was unable to eat, but this has greatly improved his energy and healing. By Tuesday morning, he was well enough to transfer to the rehab floor. While there isn’t an official discharge date yet, if his progress continues, his medical team is hopeful he could go home soon.

Hannah is balancing hospital stays, caring for her other two children, and working full-time. This fundraiser will help relieve some of the financial burden so she can focus on what matters most: helping her son heal.
