Rally Around Denise Abbitt-Gerdes
In October 2017 Denise was diagnosed with breast cancer. Over the next month there were multiple scans, biopsies, and procedures. Denise’s insurance has a high deductible of up to 19,500 between in network and out of network deductibles which does not include the mandatory co-pays for each visit. Her deductibles start over every calendar year. In December she had a double mastectomy and had three lymph nodes removed. Things seemed to be going on track, until she developed an infection from the surgery. A second surgery in January, removed almost all of the tissue and skin that remained. She will soon be receiving a chemo port requiring another surgery, and hopefully begin her 20 weeks of chemo therapy. God willing she will then begin reconstructive surgeries that will span a number of future months and procedures. She has a tough road ahead but is trying to stay strong and positive. There are many bills coming in at this time. Working in the medical field, Denise understands the importance of compensating the medical personnel responsible for her care. Any help provided will go directly to medical expenses and will go a long way to putting her mind at ease, and stay focused on beating this horrible disease.
