Hello,

My name is Debbie and I am asking for prayers and support for my sister Dayna and her four daughters during an incredibly difficult season.

Dayna is a devoted single mom who has been facing an overwhelming series of challenges–medical, financial and emotional. Her youngest daughter, Anna, who is now 11, has spina bifida and underwent open fetal surgery while my sister was pregnant with her. She was then born at 29 weeks and spent the first 3 months of her life in the NICU. She’s a little miracle and such a joy. Recently, Anna’s spinal cord became tethered causing new symptoms and some paralysis. Anna underwent surgery this week to remove a portion of her spinal column and release the tethering of her spinal cord to prevent further spinal cord injury. The surgery requires about a week in the hospital followed by recovery. While running the medical tests to prepare for Anna’s spinal surgery the doctors discovered an unrelated health concern they are keeping a close eye on. If this condition doesn’t improve Anna could require treatment and an additional surgery.

A few weeks before Anna’s surgery, Dayna’s second oldest daughter suffered a neck injury and a concussion. She is healing under the special care of the Children’s Hospital concussion clinic and physical therapy team.

During this overwhelming time, their finished basement flooded causing water damage throughout. Even with insurance, the repair work is extensive and costly.

The trials continued as their sweet dog Charlie suffered a severe injury to his neck and required surgery at the emergency pet hospital and ongoing care.

In addition, her employer’s HR informed her that the extended time she requested to take off for her daughter’s recovery would be unpaid.

We’re asking for help to ease the burden my sister is facing —whether it’s covering any lost income, medical or home related costs, or just helping Dayna focus on her daughters with a little less stress. Every donation, every share, and every prayer is a blessing.
