It all happened so fast. One moment, life was normal. The holiday season was in full swing. Family came and went, the kids laughed and played; it was just any other year gone by. Soon after, the world came crashing down around this beautiful family. Please join me to support Daniel and Jamie as they navigate the devastation of baby Vela's cancer. The journey ahead is unknown but precious. I ask that we rally around this family as they have many needs at this time to be able to spend every second focused on Vela's fight.

Meet Vela: The sunshine of our world. Her smile, laughter, and much-needed long hugs bring joy to every person she meets (including her nurses and doctors). Her resolve and strength are beyond admirable. She is truly our blessing, but oh boy, is she a fighter!

On January 23, 2026, Daniel and Jamie took my niece, Vela Salazar, to the emergency room for headaches and nausea, where the doctors found a mass in baby Vela's brain.

After multiple surgeries and a tumor removal, she was diagnosed with ATRT, a very rare and aggressive cancer, on January 27th.

Vela will need to go through at least 5 rounds of chemotherapy and 6 weeks of radiation therapy. This involves many trips back and forth to Kansas City and long stays in the hospital, while also caring for Vela’s 3 year old brother, Pablo. I am asking for donations for these trips, hospital stays, supplies needed, and time away from work. Your support will allow this family to be side by side as they fight together.
