On October 26th, as a first responder, I arrived at a familiar address in Coden, AL. The dispatcher reported a structure fire with multiple animals. I recognized the address from assisting the property owner with spay and neuter services the prior year and took some puppies to rescue. One thing I knew was the resident, Darell Raley, took in unwanted and abandoned dogs that came along his path. The dogs would eat before he would. When I arrived, the entire property was on fire and he lost everything. Some of his pets died in the fire and many were saved, some having severe burns. Darell lived a simple life and had a few RVs. Most of his property, however, consisted of dog kennels throughout that he had built over time. Donations have been received through a non-profit rescue initially, The Pretty Pittie Committee. A very kind person has offered a generous donation towards an RV replacement and we are searching daily for one. A washing machine has been donated.

We are in need of funding towards the RV, power pole and septic pump grinder, debris clearing, and topsoil. He lost everything. Regular updates will be posted as progress is made. The things I didn't even think about... clothes, hygiene products, shoes, gas (he does have his truck). He has been working sun up to sun down scrapping burnt metal. He is currently sleeping in a small enclosed trailer that you use to haul stuff in. Anything you can help with is very much appreciated. Share and pray for full restoration.
