Rakes Report Christmas Giving 2021

Tax deductible

Due to GoFundMe's sketchy commenting system — if you are reading this GoFundMe, please fix it! — some people were unable to leave the background story for their donations. I'm going to relay some that have been flagged to me here and if you would like yours added please let me know.

Steve Raymond - Tony Rice pass attempts

Dave Kelly - 23 - in honor of all of our favorite Irish running back, Kyren; 0 - in honor of the amount of national championships Bo Schembechler won at Michigan.

Andy Pauwels - $272.50 for Tommy Rees's college career passer rating (133.5) + Marcus Freeman's college career solo tackles (139) (rounded up to a $273 donation)

Leah Miller - 52 for the # of weeks last week lasted 13 for the # of filled positions on ND’s coaching roster 20 for the # of minutes into the press conference today when I started tearing up 15 for where Marcus Freeman ranks out of 10

Rob Arseniadis - For Joe Alt, who i knew would be awesome just by watching his signing day video when he was out fishing .

For the sixth time, we are looking to raise money for the Center for the Homeless in South Bend. The Center does tremendous work in a variety of ways for the community — read more about them here if you're not familiar — and after the true craziness of the last week in the life of Notre Dame football it's nice to take control and do some Good for folks who could use a hand.

We didn't do this after the 2015 season and things didn't go so hot but since we launched the inaugural edition of Christmas Giving in December 2016 the football program is 54-9. Is there any karmic causation here or is it simply coincidence? Who can say, but it seems like a bad idea to tempt fate and not run this back. This year we again have Christmas Giving gear provided by Bridget Reynolds available here . Any proceeds from purchases made at the Report store in December — Christmas Giving designs or otherwise — will go to the CFH as well.

The goal of $4,071 was one dollar for every yard allowed by the Notre Dame defense during the 2021 season. The goal of $7,670 is one dollar for every passing yard in Tommy Rees' Notre Dame career.

Please consider sharing this with your friends, family and alumni groups. If you have any questions, please reach out via the provided contact link. For more on the CFH, executive director Steve Camilleri provided this explainer of what his group does in the community:

The Center's mission is to help break the cycle of homelessness, and it's been such a gift to see people transform their lives and get back on their feet. Like a university, guests that arrive at CFH focus on their "major," and take classes, programming, and seek the help they need in the area they need it most. As they achieve success in that area, they wrap around other opportunities, much like elective courses, that can be for personal edification, enjoyment or education. All in all, CFH tries to meet the needs of everyone that walks through her doors with dignity and respect. We have found that each guest is a gift and has so much to give, and when you hold a high expectation of them, they rise to the occasion!

Thank you and Go Irish.
