Hi, my name is Rajeshwari, and I am here to raise funds for my sister's complicated brain surgery and her recovery.
My sister, Rajyalaxmi Akula, was diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm (also known as a brain aneurysm), which is a weak or thin spot on an artery in the brain that balloons or bulges out and fills with blood. The bulged aneurysm has put too much pressure on the nerves or brain tissue and burst.
We took her to the closest hospital on an emergency basis joined her at Appolo Hospitals, Hyderguda, Hyderabad, on October 3, 2023. Doctors recommended a brain surgery with the clipping procedure. Since we weren't left with many options, agreed for the same. Doctors confirmed surgery went well and it's success. My sister had to be in the ICU for 2 weeks right after the surgery and in the general ward, we had keep her for 1 week in the same hospital. Discharged on October 16, 2023, reports attached.
Couple of days later the discharge, my sister's left eye got swollen and not coming down to normal. In the scan, doctors found water was not draining from the brain, and they put a shunt on October 31, 2023.
Within a week from the shunt, on November 4, 2023, my sister had severe seizures. We had to admit her back to the same hospital, go for another CT scan. Report showed blood leakage in the brain and stains all over. This created some doubts on treatment, we went for the second opinion. From the reports that we sent, we were told by other doctors that the surgeon misplaced the clip altogether. And also, found doctor not capable and incompetent of this kind of surgeries.
We had to move her to Jubilee Hills, Appollo Hospitals with the last payment 7 lakh rupees in the first hospital with all regrets on 5th of November, 2023. Since then, she has been on a ventilator in ICU from past 7 days. The doctors have stated that she would require a few more weeks of ventilation and an ICU stay until her organs get stabilized.
My brother-in-law is the only one who is managing the bills and everything who paid to the Hyderguda hospital, 27 lack Indian rupees (33,750 USD). Attached the bills. We have now paid almost 15 lakh rupees (~ 20,000 USD) in the new hospital till now. My sister is a strong support for her family, with the two young kids, and her husband. We paid almost 45 lakh Rupees. We had already exhausted all our life savings for his initial surgery and treatments at the first hospital itself. At this time, we came to saturation point where we could not manage with the on-going continued bills.
We never expected such an unfortunate thing to happen to us, which is nothing less than a nightmare. My sister's family is going through a very tough time now, and we have been continuously visiting hospitals day and night to give him the best treatment possible. We're trying hard to bring our sister's life back to normal to take care of her family, hence this appeal.
