Help Chris Recover After His Heart Attack <3

Just days after celebrating his step-daughter’s wedding, our dear friend Chris suffered a heart attack that turned life upside down for him and his wife, Shonna.

A couple of months ago, Chris was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and an extremely enlarged left atrium. He was scheduled to see a cardiologist soon, but before that could happen, Chris began experiencing chest pains during band practice and was rushed to the hospital. What was meant to be a normal evening quickly became a fight for his health.

In the hospital, Chris underwent a series of procedures. An angiogram revealed that one artery was 40% blocked, but thankfully it did not require a stent and could be treated with medication. A TEE procedure followed, where doctors examined his heart in hopes of restoring a normal rhythm. Unfortunately, they discovered a blood clot, which made the procedure too dangerous, as the risk of stroke was too high if the clot came loose.

Chris is now home, with a half-dozen new medications and strict instructions to rest. For the next several days, he won’t be able to do anything, and even after that, his recovery will be slow and careful. He will be out of work for a while as his heart heals and the doctors work to dissolve the clot before addressing his A-fib.

Through every moment of this terrifying ordeal, Shonna has been by his side—managing doctor updates, keeping friends informed, and offering her love and strength. But the reality is that this unexpected medical crisis has created financial strain. With Chris unable to work, they need help covering medical bills, household expenses, and the day-to-day costs of life while he recovers.

Chris is one of the most loyal and big-hearted people we know, always quick with a laugh or a helping hand. Now it’s our turn to show up for him and Shonna during this difficult time.
